SHARK BIOLOGY
An Exhibition of HISTORICAL & CONTEMPORARY SAMPLES
We are fortunate to have over 40 species of modern elasmobranch species represented in our collections, in the form of dentition (teeth), jaws, wet specimens, eggcases, and more. Our exploratory exhibit also features shark skin and dermal denticle samples. Our educational resources are always growing!
SELECTIONS FROM THE BIOLOGICAL COLLECTION
ELASMOBRANCH JAWS IN COLLECTIONS
Living Sharks Museum has a comparative collection of shark jaws and dentition representing species from around the world. Every jaw is different in its design and usage! Did you know many sharks lose thousands of teeth in their lifetime? You can easily see how when you view our exhibits!
LIVING SHARKS DENTITION COLLECTION
Living Sharks Museum is home to a diverse collection of shark teeth, including a Prehistoric Shark Collection. Our comparative collection boasts over 30 species of living sharks and over 40 species of prehistoric sharks. We also have examples of pathological dentition.
ELASMOBRANCH EGGCASE COLLECTION
Did you know: 30% of shark species (including skates and rays) lay leathery eggcases, and they are works of art! We have a growing collection of egg cases on display in Living Sharks Museum.
