An Adventurous Life | by Valerie Taylor
An Adventurous Life is an absolutely inspirational story of an amazing woman who beat polio and pushed boundaries above and beneath the sea. To say the least, Valerie Taylor is an ocean conservationist, photographer and shark expert who changed the way shark science was approached. She’s known by her and her late husband Ron’s underwater images, spectacular work on many documentaries like Blue Water White Death, as well as the underwater white shark footage in Jaws (1975).

What You Should Know About Sharks | by Ocean Ramsey with Photos by Juan Oliphant
I’ve heard some researchers in the past say that they don’t need to dive to study or understand sharks. While true for some areas of study, nothing solidifies the embodiment of respect for sharks like being in the water with them. Sharks are more than their biology, they are integral keystone species in their ecosystems. Ocean Ramsey and Juan Oliphant have been able to spend countless dives with them analyzing their behaviors from the shark’s vantage, and sharing with the public their experiences through a multitude of visual modalities. Their experience is invaluable and now their own book offers readers a personal lesson in coexistence. This work exhibits the undeniable and quantifiable value of cinema science, safe ecotourism and every shark left alive.
